I am fully vaccinated. Students are asked to wear a mask. I will also be wearing a mask. Everyone will practice social distancing. Tables, chairs, sewing machines, and equipment will be disinfected prior to each class session. Adults as well as Children are welcome in this class. An additional option for this class is for an adult to register with a child and they can work together on a project, although adults and children can enroll as an individual students. This is a class for beginners or more experienced sewists that want to tackle a more demanding project. You will learn how to find your size in a pattern, layout your pattern, proper pinning, cutting and pressing, how to thread and sew on a machine using basic stitches and finishing techniques. This class can be repeated many times, making a slightly more advanced project each time. A pair of PJ bottoms, easy tote bag or a simple skirt are good beginning projects. More advanced sewists can bring a project and receive help. This is a class that can be taken many times, increasing the difficulty of the project each time. Brand new students to sewing. along with more experienced sewists, will be shown how to achieve their chosen project. Projects for beginning students can range from pj bottoms, aprons, a simple skirt, a tote bag, or doll clothes. Students will be taught how to safely use a sewing machine and iron, basic sewing machine skills, how to choose fabrics, cutting a pattern from fabric, and how to read a commercial pattern. More advanced students can choose a more challenging pattern. Classes are kept small for lots of individual attention. There is a nice backyard for handsewing and for a space for students to eat lunch. Age Range - 7-13 years old. Machines provided, but students are welcome to bring their own. If childcare is needed before or after class, a rate of $15.00 an hour will be added.
